How do I add a "book now" button to my website?

Go the "Promote" tab, and scroll towards to the bottom of the page to see all available button styles available.

To add a button to your website, you will need access your website's files through FTP. Once connected to your website's files, choose which page you want to add the book now button to, and open it in a text or HTML editor.

Copy the snippet of code for the button you have chosen, and paste it in the appropriate area of the web page, and save.

How do I control how far into the future my clients can book?

Go the "Appointment Settings" section of the "Settings" tab, and select the option which best fits your needs from the "Clients can book up to … into the future"

What control do I have over my cancellation policy?

OpenCal allows you to spell out a cancellation policy which will be shown to your clients booking online. You can also control how close to their upcoming appointments clients can cancel or reschedule, or, if you wish, completely disable online canceling/rescheduling.

What information can I ask my clients to provide when they book online?

In addition to their name, email, and phone number, you can also opt to ask your clients for their address (useful if you need to visit your clients!), as well as ask them a custom question (i.g. What allergies do you have?).

Both options are found in the "Appointment Settings" section of the "Settings" tab.

When are appointment notifications sent out?

Appointment notifications are automatically sent to you and the clients in the following situations:

Action triggering notification Sent to you Sent to client
When a client books, cancels, or reschedules an appointment online.
When you book, cancel (delete), or change a client appointment *
When a client requests an appointment online.
When you approve a client's appointment request.
When you deny a client's appointment request.
As a reminder, 24 hours before appointments take place.
You book, change or cancel an event.
*Only if you've entered the client's email address in the appointment details.

If you have also checked the option to gather customer feedback in "Appointment Settings", then feedback request email will be sent to clients 24 hours after their appointments.

How do I request payment for appointment bookings?

OpenCal supports the industry standard PayPal payment system for receiving online payments from your clients during the booking procedure.

Simply enter the email address you used to signup for PayPal under "Appointment Settings":

And set each service you would like to receive payments for under "Manage Services"

"Request payment after appointment is confirmed" means the user will be presented with an option to pre-pay for their appointment on the last step of the booking steps (confirmation page). "Request payment before appointment is confirmed" means the user will be sent to PayPal to make a payment after their contact info is entered.

How do I add a "Book Now" button to my Facebook page?

You can easily display your OpenCal "Book Now" button directly on your business' Facebook page by following these steps:

Step 1: Create a Facebook Page

Facebook has over 500 million users, and is a great place to advertise your business and take advantage of social networking. If you don't have a Facebook Page for your business yet, set one up now.

Step 2: Add the "FBML Box" Application

Now that your Facebook Page is setup, open Facebook and in the search box at the top type "Static FBML" and click on the application.

On the Static FBML Application page, click "Add to my Page" on the left:

Click on "Add to Page" next to your business's page and then click "Close". In this example we're going to add it to our "OpenCal" page:

Step 3: Edit the "FBML Box" Application

Bring up your Facebook Page by searching for your page (by business name) in the Facebook search box and opening it.

Now click on "Edit Page" on the left side of your Facebook Page.

Find the "FBML Box" application and click the "Edit" link on it.

Step 4: Enter your unique "Book Now" button code.

To generate your unique "Book Now" button code, enter your OpenCal username here:

Your code:

Now copy the code above.

Under Box Title replace "FBML" with "Book Now", then paste in the unique button code you copied above, and click save.

Step 5: Done!

Now you have a "Book Now" tab on your Facebook Page with your Book Now button under it. You can also drag the tab to a different position.
